The official planning and coordinating body for services for children and families in Athens-Clarke County. Family Connection-Communities In Schools is a partnership of over 100 organizations working with families to improve outcomes for all children to succeed in school and in life.

Hands On Northeast Georgia
A volunteer center that helps individuals, families, and corporate and community groups to find flexible service opportunities at various organizations in Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties. Hands On Northeast Georgia creates, organizes, and leads meaningful service projects that positively impact the community.

ACC Department of Housing & Community Development
Strives to improve and develop viable neighborhoods by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities for low-to-moderate income families. Helps overcome barriers to full-time regular employment and encourages the establishment and growth of local businesses in order to encourage job creation.

ACTION Incorporated
An agency serving a 10-county region of northeast Georgia including Athens-Clarke County. Provides many services that lend a helping hand, including emergency food assistance and help with rent, mortgage, and energy expenses as a result of an unforeseen hardship. ACTION seeks to break the poverty cycle by offering a hands-up approach and working directly with individuals who are committed to do whatever it takes to succeed in their quest to improve their lives and get out of poverty.

Action Ministries - Athens
A faith-based organization whose mission is to mobilize Clarke County communities to address the challenges of poverty by focusing on hunger relief, housing, and education.

Advantage Behavioral Health Systems

The Ark

Classic City Kiwanis Club
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to serving the children of the world. Classic City Kiwanis Club provides various services for the Athens community with the primary goal of raising funds to benefit the youth of Athens.

Clute Barrow Nelson Life Foundation
A non-profit charitable organization established to help children with cancer by providing financial assistance to families in need.

The Cottage
Provides support services for survivors and families impacted by sexual assault and child abuse. Services include a 24-hour crisis and information hotline, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, counseling referrals, prevention education, and emergency financial assistance for basic needs.

Court Appointed Special Advocates
Athens-Oconee CASA trains and supervises community volunteers to advocate for abused or neglected children who are in foster care. Volunteers represent the interests of children in court proceedings and strive to ensure the child finds a safe, permanent home.

A non-profit Christian adoption agency providing services in Georgia.

Downtown Ministries
A non-profit organization that engages youth and their families in inner-city Athens through sports programs, after-school programs, and other community projects. These programs and activities promote personal and spiritual renewal as well as community restoration.

East Athens Youth Leadership Academy
A program designed to help youth (7th -11th Grade) become leaders in our communities. Helps students learn both leadership and everyday life skills, including etiquette, goal setting, team building, conflict management, as well as how to complete both a resume' and job/internship applications.

Experience UGA

Foster Grandparent Program
Enables low-income older adults to receive benefits while serving children with special needs. Volunteers are placed in schools, Head Start programs, and day care centers where they mentor, tutor, and provide one-on-one support to at-risk children.

Georgia MENTOR
Provides services to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the Athens area. Also offers services for children and teens with emotional and behavioral challenges and complex medical conditions.

High School Youth Program
Operated by ACTION Incorporated, this program pairs dedicated counselors with high school students who are identified as high-risk for dropping out of school and entering the cycle of poverty, serving as both a personal mentor and an academic adviser to help ensure their success.

Nancy Travis Childcare Project

American Red Cross of Northeast Georgia
American Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting immediate, emergency, disaster-caused needs. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, mental health, and other services to address basic human needs and to enable people to resume their normal daily activities independently.

Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response
As part of the Georgia Department of Public Health, the Northeast Health District‘s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response is responsible for providing coordination and support during a public health emergency.

Project Safe
A non-profit organization working to end violence against women through prevention and educational programs, crisis intervention, and support services for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Provides a safe shelter, a 24-hour hotline, support groups, children's programs, and community outreach.

Vets for Pets and People
A grant-supported program of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. The primary mission is to educate veterinarians, veterinary paraprofessionals and the public about the link between domestic violence and animal abuse. Working with Project Safe (an Athens area domestic violence shelter) and a network of volunteers, they also provide temporary foster care to pets whose owners have sought shelter from domestic violence.

Eating Disorders Recovery Center of Athens
Offers intensive treatment programs designed to target the physical, emotional, and social factors that lead to conditions such as anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive eating in order to help those suffering from eating disorders to recover and resume a normal life.

PALS
Partnering Ambassadors for Life and Service is a non-profit Christian service organization that develops and conducts educational and job skills classes to equip adult women to gain stable employment.

Senior Community Service Employment Program
Provides paid part-time community service assignments for low-income persons who are 55+ years old, while promoting transition to unsubsidized employment. Trainees develop marketable skills through performing community service at non-profit agencies.

Full Plate

A service provided by the Athens Community Council on Aging that helps foster independent living for disabled and older adults in Athens.

Our Daily Bread
A community kitchen providing hot meals for more than 20 years in Athens. Serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday and a sack meal on the weekends. Operated by Action Ministries.

Campus Kitchen at UGA
The goal of Campus Kitchen is to reduce food waste at the university and to help end hunger in the Athens area by transforming reclaiming food into meals to be delivered to those in Athens who need it most.

Athens PRIDE
Athens PRIDE is made up of community activists and volunteers and exists to promote community, fellowship, and support around lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues in the greater Athens area. GLOBES
Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual Employees and Supporters of the University of Georgia. GLOBES is a diverse organization of faculty, staff & administrators whose mission is to advocate for, develop, and nurture UGA’s LGBTQ communities. Athens Neighborhood Health Center
Provides affordable, high quality primary healthcare to medically under-served individuals in Athens-Clarke County and surrounding areas. Serves children living in poverty, the working poor, elderly individuals on fixed incomes, homeless individuals and persons with chronic illnesses.

Clarke County Health Department
Provides a comprehensive range of free or low-cost health services to the citizens of Athens-Clarke County in the areas of women's health, children's health, communicable disease control, chronic disease services, dental health, nutrition services, health education, and more.

Mercy Health Center
A volunteer-based non-profit Christian health center providing care for the uninsured in and around Athens with services including medical, pharmacy, and dental care.

Specialty Care Clinic
A clinic located in the Clarke County Health Department that provides specialized outpatient primary care for HIV positive patients living within the Northeast Georgia Health District.

Teen Matters
A public health clinic just for teens providing free confidential health services and health education for youth ages 11 to 19 in a teen-friendly environment with two locations in Athens.

Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary
