Copying, Printing and Scanning

The Map and Government Information Library offers a variety of copying, printing and scanning options for its users. Most materials can be copied or scanned depending on the condition of the material; Map and Government Information Library staff reserves the right to determine whether or not an item can be copied or scanned.

Printing

HP LaserJet B&W printer

HP Large Format Printer

  • $0.01 (1 cent) per square inch; cost per sheet = length of original in inches x width of original in inches x .01
  • Pay by check or credit card; the Map and Government Information Library does not accept cash. Checks should be made out to UGA Libraries.
  • Large-format printing is not self-service. Map and Government Information Library staff members will perform all large-format printing.
  • Large format printing is available 8:30AM - 5PM M - F ONLY. Large format printing is not available during our evening or Saturday open hours.

Scanning

Brittle, fragile and/or damaged items may not be scanned; the Map and Government Information Library reserves the right to evaluate the condition of all materials in its collections prior to granting permission to scan.

Epson 10000XL 11 x 17 Flatbed Scanner

  • Flatbed scanning is self-service on a first-come, first-serve basis. Users may be asked to limit their time on the scanner if others are waiting.
  • Scanned images can be saved to disk, USB drive, CD-ROM, or sent via e-mail; users must provide their own media for transporting images.
XEROX Photo-quality Color Copier
  • The Xerox color copier can also be used to scan materials; there is no fee for scanning on this machine.
  • Scanned images can be saved to a USB drive or sent via email; users must provide their own USB drive for transporting images.

Contex HD5450 Large Format Scanner

  • $0.01 (1 cent) per square inch; cost per image = length of original in inches x width of original in inches x .01
  • Print output and digital output are 2 separate products. Users will be charged per copy of an image regardless of output.
  • Images created by this scanner are generally too large to email. Users may supply their own USB drive, CD or DVD to transport digital images; otherwise the Map and Government Information Library will provide CDs for $1 each.
  • Due to workflow concerns the maximum number of items the Map and Government Information Library staff will scan per user is 10 per day or 25 per week.
  • Pay by check or credit card; the Map and Government Information Library does not accept cash. Checks should be made out to UGA Libraries.
  • Large-format scanning is not self-service. Map and Government Information Library staff members will perform all large-format scanning.
