Commercial Collection Videos (non-Peabody)

Graduate Students, Undergraduates and UGA Staff, in addition to Faculty, can now check out videos (videocassettes, DVDs, and laser discs) from our Commercial Collection.

Faculty can now check out up to 5 videos for 7 days. No overdue fines will be charged to Faculty, but an overdue video will result in a blocked library account and will prevent you from checking out Libraries material.

Graduate Students and Undergraduates: The loan period for the Commercial Collection videos is 3 days. You may borrow up to 3 videos. There will be an overdue fine of $2.50 per day charged for each video that is late. Having an overdue library item (overdue book from Access Services, overdue CD from the Music Library, or overdue video from Media) will result in a blocked library account and will prevent you from checking out Libraries material.

Libraries staff can check out up to 3 videos from our Commercial Collection for 3 days. There are no overdue fines for Libraries Staff, but an overdue video will block your Libraries Account.

We highly recommend that you check with the Department at least 24 hours prior to the time you need to use any materials in class, in order to guarantee the availability of the items, as another patron may have scheduled the item for use.

Also, media materials are fragile and certain items may be unavailable due to repair or replacement issues.

Peabody Videos

Peabody videos can only be checked out by Faculty and Graduate Students (who are also teaching classes during the current semester). Peabody videos can only be checked out for 1 day. An overdue fine of $2.50 per day will be charged (to Grad Students) per video. An overdue Peabody video will block your Libraries Account.

All Peabody and Commercial Collection videos that are 1 week overdue will be considered lost by the GIL System and the price of the video plus a $35 processing fee will be charged (per video) to the patron's account.

The PBS VIDEO Database of America's History & Culture

Videos in the PBS VIDEO Database series are available for faculty, graduate students and undergraduates to check out for periods of three days or less. For more about borrowing PBS videos, see our PBS Collection information.

General Loan Policies

All UGA Faculty, Staff and Students must have their UGA ID to checkout an item from the Media Desk. Items cannot be renewed online or by phone. If a video is needed past the due date, please bring the item to the Media Desk and we will discharge the item from your account and re-check it out to you.

Up to three (3) videorecordings may be borrowed at a time by Undergraduates, Graduate Students, UGA Staff and UGA Libraries Staff. Faculty may borrow up to five (5) videorecordings at a time.

Videorecordings must be returned to the Media Department and not left in the book drop.

Do not leave a videorecording in your car or in the sun!

Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost of damaged materials. The Libraries Access Services department may suspend all library privileges and/or block class registration for failure to return materials and/or meet financial obligations.
