Research Registration

All researchers are required to register for an online Special Collections Research Account. This personalized account allows visitors to request material while at the Special Collections Libraries, from their home or office before they arrive, or offsite on behalf of someone performing onsite research on their behalf. The account also allows researchers to track what materials they request as well as create and submit orders for photocopies, scans, and copies of material.

The Special Collections Research Account System allows special collections staff to track usage of collections. The information this tracking provides will help staff to assess preservation and access needs more efficiently and effectively. In creating an online research account, researchers should be aware that special collections staff will not have access to your password and that your contact information will not be made available to third-party vendors.

The University of Georgia Special Collections Library maintains a list of researchers in the Athens area who are willing to perform research on the behalf of those unable to come in person. Please contact us at sclib@uga.edu to receive a list of individuals. Note that the University of Georgia Special Collections Library does not endorse any particular researcher for hire nor will the library participate in any form of financial transactions betwixt the patron and proxy.
