Not Only for Ourselves: The Integration of UGA Athletics provides context to the racial environment surrounding athletics at the University of Georgia prior to the integration of its sports teams during the period from 1968 through 1971, as well as following the narrative of integration up to the present day. Visitors to this exhibit will learn more about the first Black athletes at the University, and incidents and milestones marking the path to integrating the Georgia Bulldogs.
This exhibit will be on display in the Russell Special Collections Building from September 10, 2021, through the end of the year.
A free guided tour of this exhibit will be offered at 3pm on Fridays before Georgia's home football games. No reservations for this tour are required.
