Overdue Policy

There are no late fines for the Tech Lending program.

Repeated late returns will result in patron being placed on probation for a period of 3 months. Violation of probation could result in patron being unable to use the program or check out specific programs for a period of 3 to 6 months. Patron would be notified of the specific consequences at the time they are placed on probation.

Probation may be applied for the following reasons:

  • Item is returned 30 or more days late AND
    • Item is damaged
    • Patron has repeated late returns (4 or more in a single semester)
    • Patron has other late returns in excess of 7 days (1 or more within a calendar year)
  • Patron has returned item damaged AND
    • Patron has repeated damaged returns
    • Patron has repeated late returns (4 or more in a single semester)
    • Patron has another late return in excess of 30 days (within a calendar year)
  • Item is late by 7 days or more AND
    • Item is damaged
    • Patron has repeated late returns (4 or more in a single semester)
    • Patron has another late return in excess of 30 days (within a calendar year)
  • Item is returned late AND
    • Patron has repeated late returns (5 or more in a single semester)

Any item returned after the due date is considered late.

 

Fines

Fines may apply in the case that an item is lost or damaged. Tech Lending items are declared lost when they are more than 7 days overdue.

Please call 706-542-3256 during Main Library Circulation Desk open hours to pay fines.

 

 

Loss

Students assume risk when they borrow technology and should treat equipment with care. Borrowers are liable for replacement cost if equipment, components, or accessories are lost. Report lost or misplaced equipment ASAP via our contact form to maximize chances of recovering items.

Do not leave items at unattended service desk. Doing so will result in a $50 mishandling charge.

Damage

Some damage is inevitable over time due to wear and tear. Please report physical damage, technical malfunction, and/or missing components ASAP. Borrowers will be held financially responsible for damage requiring repairs in an amount to be determined by Tech Lending staff.
