Bob Short Oral History Studio

The Bob Short Oral History Studio is named for Charles Robert Short, in recognition of his contributions to the oral history program of the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies. The Reflections on Georgia Politics oral history series would not exist without Bob Short, and the generous gift of his time, energy, and wisdom. Bob is a true friend of the Library, and a valued colleague of the Russell staff.

A native of Rabun County, Georgia, Bob Short began his career as a journalist with the Atlanta Journal. He later served in the administrations of Georgia Governors Marvin Griffin, Ernest Vandiver, Carl Sanders, Lester Maddox, and Zell Miller. Former Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox has described Bob Short as the most effective politician to never hold public office.
