Our guides lead thousands of children and adults through the state's historic Capitol building each year, facilitating programs that connect the public with their history and government, and ensure tours are engaging, fun, and educational. The Georgia State Capitol Museum is among the state's top civics education sites for students and visitors alike.
No previous knowledge of political science or history is required to become a docent! Candidates go through a two-month training program upon approval. Some roles volunteers can expect to fulfill include:
1. Leading tours of the Capitol
2. Answering questions at the tour desk, offering directions and guidance to Capitol visitors
3. Partnering with other Capitol agencies to offer programming to visitors
