Borrowing Services for UGA faculty, students, and staff
UGA faculty, students & staff
The Borrowing Unit of the University of Georgia Interlibrary Loan Department obtains materials not owned by the UGA Libraries. The mission of the Borrowing Unit is to support the teaching and research of The University of Georgia. Therefore requests are limited to those submitted by eligible UGA faculty, students, staff, and specific UGA affiliates. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please check with the UGA Libraries Access Services department.
Before submitting an interlibrary loan request, please check the following:
- GIL@UGA -- to see if what you need is owned by the UGA Libraries or to borrow books from USG Libraries via GIL Express.
- Electronic Journals -- for fulltext journal articles online.
- GAVEL -- for materials owned by the UGA Law Library.
You may also be interested in checking the catalog of the Center for Research Libraries (CRL). The University of Georgia Libraries is a member of this cooperative institution. Any material listed in their catalog can be ordered through interlibrary loan with a longer than usual loan period. Check the CRL catalog especially if you need newspapers on microfilm, foreign government documents, or other very old items which may be on film or fiche.
