The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to a first-year UGA student who exhibits dedication to racial equality through previous experience, initiative, and creativity in improving race relations in the community. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years, provided the student maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Scholarship recipients are stewarded by the Alumni Association. This endowment, supported, in part, by the Russell Foundation, awarded seven scholarships in 2020.
The Russell Foundation is proud supporter of the Black Alumni - 1961 Club Georgia Commitment Scholarship. This program helps remove the financial barriers to earning a quality education in Georgia.
